Private Sector Housing – Technical Officer – Portsmouth – £15-£19ph – 3 Month Contract
A client of mine is looking for a Technical Officer to work for them on an initial 3 month contract. You will be inspecting the licenced properties to ensure that any licence conditions are being complied with and undertaking the full HHSRS inspection as required.
You will be expected to complete a specified number of pro-active inspections per week and provide written reports to the licence holder indicating works required or advice following the inspection.
You will be expected to work with the tenants and licence holder in setting reasonable timescales for the works to be completed. These will be monitored by other officers within the Private Sector Housing Team.
You need to:
Have at least a HNC or HND in Environmental Health or Building Construction, Surveying or equivalent.
Have a proven working and academic understanding of relevant legislation including Housing Act 2004 and associated documentation.
Be able to undertake a full assessment using the Housing, Health and Safety Rating system.
Have the organisational skills to manage multiple workloads and limited resources.
Be self-motivated with the autonomy to make decisions and implement improvements where necessary.
Be able to demonstrate innovation and creativity, with the ability to see the bigger picture and provide solutions that are unique to individual problems.
Have excellent people skills with the ability to resolve conflict, but have a sympathetic, friendly and empathetic manner to be able to understand the situations of our customers.
Have excellent communication skills with the confidence to share and sell your ideas to customers and internal and external stakeholders to the organisation.
Have knowledge of Microsoft packages and databases.
